The Secret to Free Electronic Cigarettes

The Secret to Free Electronic Cigarettes

What if I told you it was possible to get a free electronic cigarette starter kit?  Sound good?  Too good?

Maybe even too good to be true?

Every day, millions of smokers are looking for a way to quit cigarettes and some happen to stumble upon a flashy sales page.

You’re probably saying to yourself, “That sounds great!  Sign me up!”  And who can blame you?  There’s actually a long list of reasons of why every smoker should switch to electronic cigarettes.  Plus, who doesn’t like free?

So, you keep reading.

“Whoa!  What a deal!”  Maybe you have a friend who recently made the switch to e-cigs and you have been thinking about it, but didn’t want to make the investment to get full starter kit yet.

The Bad News

Unfortunately, these “free” trial electronic cigarettes are a scam.

If you recently signed up for one of these “free” trials and are looking for help, first of all, don’t beat yourself up.  You’re not the first person to try to take advantage of a deal.

The good news is, I’m here to help.

How Does it Work?

So, how can you identify and avoid these scams?  Luckily, the scam artists aren’t very creative.  There are countless offers and although the company names change from time to time, the websites all look similar.

Electronic Cigarette Free Trial Scams

You will always see a flashy headline popping out at you listing all the benefits of electronic cigarettes.  Usually, on the right you will see a pretty girl smoking and a form to enter your name, email, and shipping address.

The next page shows the kit price of $0.00 with shipping and handling, usually marked down by at least 50%.  All they need is a  credit card number for the $5 and you’re all set!

The Fine Print

Not so fast.  If you happen to scroll down past the colorful form and flashing buttons, put on your reading glasses, and squint, you will see the “free” kit is not so free after all.

Reading the Fine Print

In the end you will pay more than you would for one of the top e-cigarettes like Green Smoke or V2, and all you get for your money is an ultra-low quality e-cig with very little vapor production or battery life.

Next Month

It gets worse.  At this point most people are upset, but chalk it up to a lesson learned and figure it’s best just to move on.  But it’s not over yet.  This is the part that really starts to sting.  If you go back and read through that fine print, you will discover you’re automatically enrolled in an auto-ship program for refill cartridges.  Very expensive refill cartridges at that.

So, about a month after you ordered your “free” kit, you will get a small pack of horrible tasting refills in the mail.  Most people open their mailbox and think to themselves, “What?  Another package from that shady e-cig company?”.  So you go check your credit card statement and find out you’ve been hit with another charge!

The final amount varies, but by the time you realize what’s going on, the victim usually has usually racked up over $200 worth of charges on their credit card.  You can imagine how bad this might turn out if you’re not carefully checking your credit card statements each month.

What Can You Do?

If you have been scammed and you’re wondering what you can do, you’re in the right place.  Let’s put an end to this madness.

The first thing you need to do is try to contact the e-cigarette company.  Their phone numbers are usually hard to find, on purpose, so I put together a list of all the known scam companies for your reference.

Call them as soon as possible and ask for your subscription to be cancelled.  Immediately.  You may have to call more than once to get through.

If you’re one of the lucky ones and caught on to the scam while still in the “trial” period, you may even be able to ship their junky e-cigarette back and get a partial refund.  Most of the time this “trial” period is over by the time the starter kit actually shows up in the mail.

The next step is to call your credit card company and plead your case.  Ask them if you can get a refund.  The unfortunate part is these scammers have somehow figured out a way to do this legally.  Most of the time, your credit card company won’t be able to refund your money, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

If you were not able to get a refund or cancel your subscription by going through the e-cig company, your bank should be able to block any future charges or at the least change your credit card number.

Don’t Give Up

The worst part of this is all the smokers that are forever left with a bad image of electronic cigarettes.  It’s sad to think they are just looking for a way to get away from traditional cigarettes and end up not only losing a lot of money, but having their one experience of e-cigs be with one of these companies.

Just so we’re clear, the quality of these “free” e cigarettes is way lower than the typical brand.  Their probably worse than something you might pick up at the gas station.  The smoker may think all e-cigs are like that crappy one they got in the mail, when in actuality they might really like e-cigarettes if they had tried on our top ranked brands.

The majority of the “trials” and “offers” out there are just schemes to get your credit card numbers and lock you into monthly orders. It is damn near impossible to stop the charges unless you shut down your credit card!

Each and every one of these “free trials” are a total scam. They say “pay S&H and well send you a complete starter kit”. But , what they don’t say is after 14 days they charge you another $99. you have to fight like the devil to cancel and you still end up paying a last charge of $35. Its a total ripoff, you get $15 bucks of equipment for $105. Total Rip Off
